Bad Timing
I don’t care how badly you want something, sometimes the timing is just not right to manifest what you want.
As a tarot reader, you want to find that answer. Questions get asked. When can I have that job? What do I need to DO in order to make him come back?! What obstacles stand in Sally’s way?!
All of this is because we want what we desire, and we want it right now. But here’s what you forget.
You cannot HAVE something just because you WANT something.
True enough.. our Mother’s should have taught us this when we were small children.
Now, in saying that it means that we are not in control of our lives, which is what ever spiritual guru wants to teach you. You make your own decisions and if you want it bad enough, you can have it. That’s what The Secret told us.
Well, I’m not disagreeing that if you want it, you can have it. But I AM telling you that just because you want it to appear in a VERY specific materialistic / physical way at the exact time you want it .. well, THAT might not be happening.
Part of the HAVING whatever you want in your life depends on whether or not it’s the right time to have whatever it is you think you want.
Let’s put it like this.. no matter how much you’d love a million dollar house, if you have a $20,000 a year job, chances are you won’t be able to pay the taxes on the property, and barely able to make the utility bills, let’s not forget all the other little expenses there might be like landscaping, higher insurance, etc. Imagine how dreadful it may feel to have family over to your beautiful house only to find it void of furniture that you can’t afford to fill it with.
No matter how much you want it, it’s not the right time to have it. The environment isn’t correct or the circumstances aren’t walking you towards that path. There may be a series of events that needs to happen first, like putting forth the effort to receive the amount of annual income needed to properly sustain your dream of owning that million dollar home.
Whatever your dream, until your able to sustain the environment to nurture that dream.. it is not yours to have.
No matter what you do to force it to happen, you are only creating more distance between you and that which you want.
I’ve noticed this very thing happens when I read on “time” for my clients. There are readings in which a very specific time frame or reference will appear, to me that signals they are on path. But other readings will say, ” Hey, there’s a bit of work to be done here first.”
Next time you or a client asks.. ‘ when is X going to happen’, lay out the cards for WHAT needs to happen first.

Combining Cards – A technique for finding a solution
I absolutely love Math! Doesn’t everyone? Okay, hmm.. don’t answer that. :p But, regardless if you love math or not, I have a tarot technique that you can use!
Let’s say you are looking for a quick reading and you are all out of space to lay out a huge spread. Maybe you are at a corporate party working the room, or sitting on the bus with a friend. Wherever you are, you have your cards in one hand and no room to lay down a spread.
Here’s what you do.
Shuffle as normal.
Look at the top card. This is information about the present situation at hand.
Flip the deck to look at the card on the bottom. This is the underlying energy that is affecting the present situation.
Now.. add them up, Which major arcana matches up? If it goes over 22 when adding, say you add 35, you’ll look at the Empress (3) and the Hierophant (5) Plus Strength (8) for finding the actions. This is the advice to get through the situation.
Let’s look at an example.
Say you pulled a five of pentacles on the top. The situation is that you feel out of place, alone, and not really accepted by someone that you admire. The card on the bottom is the Ace of Wands. The underlying energy is that you want to move forward, but your energy isn’t really moving forward in the very grounded five of pentacles. What do you do? Add them up. 5 + 1 = 6 . That’s the Lovers. Meaning you need to find self love. This will help you with the feelings of low self confidence allowing you to focus on your Ace of Wand energy.
Here’s another..
You flip over Hanged Man at the top, which you know it means that you are sorta stuck with no direction in your life at this time. The bottom card is the Eight of Swords. Hmm.. Obstacles? you say. Add them up 12 + 8 = 20 Judgment. Oh?! You may need to consider forgiveness or perhaps you are judging yourself, or situations, too harshly; keeping you locked into position.
This is meant to be a quick one phrase message when you are on the go.
Hope you enjoy it.

There is a Season for a Time
One of the easiest, and most immediate, ways to look for a time frame in a tarot reading is to recognize seasons.
Ask any tarot reader which suit is paired with which season, and you’ll get that many answers. So, I figured.. what the heck, I’ll share mine with you too! :p
[title]Pentacles = Winter [/title]
Planting the seed. Everything starts with the seed internal. Gifting giving and taking care of the very mundane, for me, mostly happens in the winter. It is in the Earth that our basic needs are met and need met. In the Winter is when the son is born new.
[title]Swords = Spring[/title]
Quick and Fast.. Windy breezy cold. This screams the air element to me.
[title]Wands = Summer[/title]
Fire and heat, need I say any more?
[title]Cups = Autumn[/title]
In the cup of the womb, we all come from water and therein will go back..in spirit.
When reading with your season of choice, use the pip number to designate how many weeks into that season something will occur.
For example, the 2 of wands would indicate the 2nd week into Summer.
Feel free to share your thoughts, and your associations of seasons.

The Methods of Timing
Have you ever tried your hand at predicting a specific time when an event will occur, using Tarot as your divinatory tool, only to find your head swimming and feeling like you are doing more guessing than actually predicting?
Yes, that can certainly happen to the best of us. But fret no more, there ARE ways to accurately make timed predictions with Tarot.
One way, and maybe the most popular, is using Astrological correspondances, in which specific tarot cards are associated with astrological signs, which then calculates up to specific time frames. You can read more about this type of timing here on Aeclectic.
Another way to predict timing with Tarot cards is to use a grouped numbering system which associates specific measuring methods with a particular Tarot suit. For example : We measure years by grouping 365 days together. Months by grouping 30 days together, weeks are grouped by 7 days, and a day is grouped by hours etc.
If we associate each group with a Tarot suit, it would look like this :
- Pentacles = Days
- Swords = Weeks
- Cups = Months
- Wands= Years
If you take each one of these groups and put a numbering system to it, such as the number on top of the card. Then 2 pentacles turns into 2 days. or 5 of Cups turns into five months.
There is a third way of predicting time which includes calculating variables.
I hope this information will make calculating time just a little easier the next time you make a prediction during a reading.

5 Simple Ways to Step into Predictive Reading
There has been a trend in the tarot community over the past few years, that has tried to move away from predictive tarot readings. I’ve heard a few reasons for this, but I think it comes down to two things. Readers not being confident in predictive reading, and readers that don’t want to be associated with old school Fortune Telling .
But let’s face it, prediction is not only what our clients want, sometimes it is what they need. Yes, absolutely.. what they NEED to know.
When we read tarot for prediction, what we are seeing is the most prominent path that the querent is currently on. This could be very important and very empowering for them. You see, now that they know.. they have the ability to change. They have the choice to change! They aren’t locked in to the advice given on one spread during one reading. If they are on the path they want to be on.. GREAT. Now we can advise them on how to stay on that path, and watch for any obstacles that can arise. However, if they don’t like that path, now they have the opportunity to see how to change that path and get on a path they’d rather be traveling down.
Now, if you are not overly confident about giving a predictive reading…..
[title]Here’s a few easy ways to step into predictive reading.[/title]
- Tip # 1 : Identify your present and future positions. Understand how the trend of the cards flow from present to future. Hint: Looking at numbers and elements can clue you in.
- Tip #2 : Pip Cards tell you ‘when’. In the system that I developed; Coins = Days, Swords = Weeks, Cups = Months, Wands = Years.
- Tip #3 : Watch your reversals. We do this to see if there is any energy that seems stuck or forming obstacles.
- Tip #4 : Know that everything can change, and future is only the direction that the energy is flowing at this time.
- Tip #5 : Trust. Trust in your ability as a reader. Detach from the outcome of the reading, which will allow you to connect with future energy.
